But, But, But it is not dark yet June 11, 2010 Gary (Calif.) Have tried everything there is, guess I could place a sun lamp in front of this thing, but no matter what, it turns on the lights as soon as there is even the slightest bit of change in sun light. A cloud, some shade, no matter what, on come the lights. Since the lights are then controlled from the timer function built in, from the moment they come on, they use up the clock. Sometimes before it is dark. Then you will not have the effect at night you wanted too. This is even mounted on a south wall yet.
If you do go ahead and buy this, don't except your frustration level to go down any time soon.
Intermatic ML100THB (Malibu) Photo Cell powerpack -- Bad Product January 6, 2010 UIDoc74 (Los Angeles, CA) Advertised and sold as a "Malibu" product this is a 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. Since the power pack line from Intermatic was sold to Malibu August 1, 2009 the retail purchaser is left up the creek on this product. The photocell is faulty and unstable causing the light to come on and off virtually in any light. The "9" level low sensitivity setting won't keep the thing off in any level of daylight. For units bought before Aug 1, Intermatic is supposed to honor the warranty...but won't because it's no longer their product. For purchases after Aug 1, Malibu doesn't honor Intermatic's warranty so one is stuck. Only option is to return it to store where you bought it. Good news is that Malibu says they have a version of this that does work. I'm planning to check this out. Advice: Don't buy the Intermatic version of this powerpack.
What a joke! November 20, 2009 Nils Anderson (Tulsa, OK USA) Can you say junk? Units light sensor does not work properly. I would give it zero stars if I could.
Dont waste your money October 26, 2009 Janis L. Puibello (Cambridge, ma) This unit was of the wattage I needed to run another low voltage line. The light sensor did not work, despite many attempts I made to follow the directions and the FAQ's.The light just kept coming on in broad daylight.
The units with the clock are much better. There needs to be alot of work done to improve this model, so don't even bother getting it. I took mine back and am ordering one of the Malibu models with the rotating 24 hour clock. That one works just fine.
Does not work properly - stays on 100% October 1, 2009 Brian Andonian (Plymouth, MI USA) I sure wish I had read the reviews before purcashing this power pack. As others have mentioned, this unit simply does not work as intended. Regardless of the sensitivity setting, the power pack stays on all the time. My power pack was plugged in near a shrub, as most power outlets are available in hidden areas. The area is shady, but I did not think that this unit would stay on 100% of the time. Sure enough, it does!
I sure wish someone would invent a power pack which operates properly. That is - comes on at dusk and off at dawn. I'm no electrical engineer, but this does not seem to be too difficult. Apparently, Intermatic has not figured it out yet.
NO NOT PURCHASE this product!!!
