| Customer Reviews: Buyer Beware! May 4, 2010 William Hi, I bought my Westinghouse Solar PIR Security Light at Sam's Club. After installation, proper settings, testing, and waiting for the dark, this light failed miserably. I believe that the problem was in the motion detector. When I manually turned the light on, it worked just fine. The timer never did work properly and the motion detector only worked when it wanted to. I called Westinghouse and they told me to take the light back to Sam's Club. We'll see...
Never Worked Correctly August 28, 2009 G. Bott (Riverhead, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When product first arrived test mode did not work which was said to be a possibility. The fix for that was to leave in sun for 8hrs. So I did and test mode worked fine so I switched the unit to the on position to finish charging. After charging was complete and it became dark I went to activate the unit by walking in front since it is suppose to be motion activated and nothing happened, I even tried driving the car around to set it off but still nothing. When I took my flashlight out to investigate I shown it at the light on my way up the ladder and when I turned it away from the unit it magically came on this led me to believe that the unit had either fixed itself or wasn't motion activated but light activated. The next night at dusk the unit did not turn on by itself only with the aid of a flashlight again did it work. The next problem was the light timer was never accurate, if I remember correctly you could adjust anywhere from 15 seconds to 15 minutes and no matter what it would always stay on longer than it was suppose to. The only way I ever got it to turn on was when I would stop shining my flashlight at the motion sensor. Maybe its light motion that its activated by (haha) but yet when I pulled the car in the driveway and turned the headlights off it still didn't turn on (go figure)? Just gonna stick with plain old electricity and some low energy floodlights if such a thing exists.
